Clip on, interchangeable interface board for compatibility with I2C/UART devices

I2C/UART Backboard is an easy to clip-on interface board, compatible with all sensor modules of TeraRanger Evo family. The lightweight board allows connection between Evo sensors and an I2C/UART-supported device, allowing, for instance plug’n play compatibility with Pixhawk autopilots.

Unique modular design of TeraRanger Evo sensors

TeraRanger Evo sensors consist of an opto-electronic sensing device (black module) and a choice of backboard (yellow model), which simply plugs-in to provide the sensor with its communication link and power management capabilities without the need for adapters or complex wiring. You simply choose the backboard that best suits your application and communication protocol! USB, I2C and UART backboards are available.

For first time users, we also recommend the USB backboard as it allows quick tests on PC with our graphical user interface. This setup is also required for possible firmware updates in future.

Our I2C/UART Backboard is compatible with the following sensor modules: TeraRanger Evo 60m, Evo 40m, Evo 15m, Evo 3m, Evo Mini, Evo 64px, Evo Thermal 33 and Evo Thermal 90.

The I2C/UART Backboard also comes packaged with a 20 cm cable.

Why buy a backboard for each TerRanger Evo sensor?

To function, each TeraRanger Evo unit requires a backboard interface to ensure power supply and a communication interface. We offer I2C/UART and USB interfaces for all TeraRanger Evo sensors. We also sell the TeraRanger Hub Evo interface to connect up to 8 TeraRanger Evo 60m or Evo 3m of the same-type to a TeraRanger Hub Evo board using Flat Flex Cables. This allows you to build your own sensor module array.

Multi-pixel ToF depth sensor

Developed for indoor use, Evo 64px outputs a matrix of 8 × 8 high-speed distance readings over a 15 degree Field of View, with a maximum range of up to 5 meters. All in a small and lightweight form-factor, only 12 grams. A free graphical user interface is available for quick tests on your PC, and drivers for ROS are also written adding to the plug and play convenience.

Evo Thermal 33º version - obtain a more detailed thermal image with the 32 × 32 pixel resolution over a 33º Field-of-View. Measure heat variations at an extended range (13 m for human detection) with a 7 Hz sampling rate. The sensor weighs only 12 grams making it suitable to OEM applications and systems integrators.
