Long-range ToF distance measurement sensor for robotics, presence detection and level monitoring applications

TeraRanger Evo 40m is a versatile, long-range Time-of-Flight distance sensor. With its 40 meters detection range and an update rate of up to 240 Hz, it offers high-performance in a compact and low-cost design. This sensor module is ideally suited to navigation and collision-avoidance for robotics, level sensing applications and a host of other IoT applications.

Unique modular design

There is an opto-electronic sensing device (black module, 9 g) and a choice of backboard (yellow module, 3 g), which simply plugs in to provide communications and to manage different power supplies, without the need for adaptors, converters or complex wiring. You simply chose the backboard that best suits your application and preferred communications protocol! USB and I2C/UART backboards are available, but custom backboards can also be made to support specific applications. Drivers for ROS (Robot Operating System) and popular drone flight controllers are also in development or available, adding to the plug and play convenience. The sensor is eye-safe and CE certified.

Looking for a contactless way to monitor fill level in your silos? With its 40 meter range and a narrow 2° Field of View - our long-range ToF distance sensor is ideal for continuous level sensing in taller silos (e.g animal feed bins, grain storage silos, construction materials).

The compact design supports OEM and design-in projects, while the low power consumption is great for battery powered integrations.

Does it work outdoors?

Yes, it does, but its range and update rate can be affected by the environment. Please Contact us for a full test report.

Is it compatible with Pixhawk?

Yes, it does, please find the “Instruction manual for connection to Pixhawk Autopilots” in the downloads section of the product page.

What is the minimum/maximum working temperature for TeraRanger Evo ?

The generic operating temperatures for TeraRanger Evo distance sensors are from -10°C to 45°C. However, we have run the sensors in our climatic chamber at -20°C and up to 60°C without inducing failures. We are also aware of customers running the sensors in warm environments and we've never yet received feedback of adverse operation or failure. We always recommend our clients to run their own tests to determine suitability to their needs.
